Pat Gillick.
it used to be that the veterans' committee was pretty loose with putting players in the hall. this has changed in the recent past, as they've become pretty stingy. guidry was nowhere near the % needed back in his eligibilty with the baseball writers, and it's very doubtful he'll get there thru the back door. blyleven, i think, may have his 15th yr. coming up, and last year he was only a few votes away from enshrinement---his omission would be the type the vets would likely "fix."
Ron & George split the vote preventing either from getting in.

I'm far from an expert on who gets into the baseball HOF, but wouldn't Ron Guidry's relatively short career duration work against him? How many starters with 170 wins are in the HOF?
Most people feel like Guidry didnt have enough great years to be in. He won more games than Sandy Koufax and Dizzy Dean (and a couple others) but that probably wouldnt be enough to get him in. Won the Cy unanimously his big year, also runner up for MVP that year and had a couple other times that he was in top 3 for the Cy. There's only so many in the HOF for a reason though and that's how the writer's would like to keep it, ultra exclusive.
