As did I... for whatever that's worth.

I feel dumb for asking this but has Ed had any head coaching experience (and success) at a smaller school? I know all about Ole Miss but was he a successful head coach at a smaller school?

It is doable, we have the money to pay in the $400,000 to 425,0000 for a HC. So $1 Mil for a complete staff comes in under that number.

T, we know the HC will get a pay increase but will the assistants get a nice increase as well?

I hear they are willing to pay up to $150,000 for coordinators. I don't know if we will have to, depending upon the hire.

As the last poster said, considering that I have ZERO inside info...which means I have ZERO facts...I will sit back and let the administration do it's job.

Congrats to the Freekin' Saders for beating my Jays!!! I think W Monroe is the end of the line for the Jays this week---but who knows????

It's not rocket science, but it is amazing, when a good coach takes over a program, the team plays and competes at a higher level then before. It will be obvious when you win games you shouldn't and don't lose to teams like WK. _
This is the real answer, the head coach is a leader and that is important, but we need a purse that will attract top quality assistants. I agree, no position coaches, no asst HC, no special teams coord, we need a proven HC, or a top flight Coordinator, who controls his WHOLE side of the ball.

Then we need to hire asst's that have experience and contacts, we don't need these punks that Bustle hires, we need first class assts!!!! Go look at Coach Stokley's staffs(only because I am not real familiar with Augie's staff, and Sam wasn't around that long) his first staff every one of those coaches went on to bigger and better things because he lost them to larger salaries(ask those that were here, they loved it here but other schools were doubling their salaries) then he has to hire younger coaches for the pay that he can offer, these younger assistants don't have the contacts, the eye for talent, or the tips and tricks to teach the position players how to adapt, nor the experience of how to handle wins or losses. We need to pay our HC at least $600K, and each coordinator $250K - $300K, then the rest of your coaches should be lining up for positions that pay from $100K on the low end to $200K or more for the better positions.

The problem is all about money - PERIOD!!! It's what attracts coaches, because after all there are only 2 kinds of college coaches, the ones who are fired and the ones who will be fired.

I think with the ties that Ed has to the state and the relationships that he has with the high school coaches in the area, I am sure that he would be able to put a great staff together to help this team get to a bowl game. I also know first hand that Cook is not the only area high school coach that would be very interested in a position on the Cajuns coaching staff, just seem that he was never even given a call or second thought when Bustle was looking for assistants. He is the only coach on Cooks staff that is in the LHSAA Hall of Fame. I guess Bustle got what was coming to him. _
Ed Oregeon is not a good fit. PERIOD AND END OF SENTENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He couldn't win at Ole Miss with all that money..........we have no money, how will he win here? Are you guys kidding me? Get off the Ed Oregeron bandwagon, it would be the 2nd worst hire in the programs history...................come on guys!!!!!!!

    Jim Leavitt
    Jeff Bower
    Mike Leach
    Mark Mangino
    Brent Venebles
    Kirby Smart
    David Culley

These are the names we need to attack............after these names, we go after some flash, the guy just fired at Colorado might even be a good choice, he can recruit and he can win at a small school.................
