Maybe we need to recruit more players who actually gave a ____ about their school and alma mater to where they wouldn't want to get embarrassed for homecoming. _
What is Grant supposed to do. He is sticking up for his teammate. Short of coming into the stands and trying to fight someone, I think he was trying to defuse the situation and make it not as bad.

I understand the situation, because I have yelled before and had a players parents nearby. You have to understand as well that parents don't think rationally. It is their child, they are going to come back no matter what is said.

Also, Grant is a senior who has been the most consistent player on defense for four years and played through injury, and has been an All- Sunbelt level player. So he won't be at a Juco. II think he was trying to stick up for his teammate more than anything. It was just a terrible night.

And telling the mom "where to go" were my exact words. I was not vulgar, I simply told her that she can go away if she can't take people getting on her son and expecting more from him.

I guess my view reflects my age, as civility and good sportmanship were much more "in" when I was growing up. From a pratical standpoint though, we all know there will probably be a new staff in place next season, and fans verball lynching players is not a reason for future recruits to want to come here. So are we shooting ourselves in the foot by displaying this type of behavior? Do we really want a recruit to talk to #44. If the player whose parents were told where to go were asked by a recruit about what he thinks about the fanbase, what do you think he would say? The coach may be gone, but the fans are permanent.

But that is just my (obvious minority) viewpoint for what it is worth.

I see your point crawfish, but I am of the younger (I guess) generation and I am tired of players being treated like kids. They are ADULTS! We can all agree that we are frustrated with the state of the program.

look dude, if you are gonna turn around and say it is just a game, that means you had no intention of putting your heart into that game to win. As a matter of fact you might as well walk off the field. If you had played athletics before you would know, I know that when you practice hard and sacrafice all your time into the game you have to be discouraged and to say it is just a game? And on top of all that coming from one of your supposed leaders on the team. I see why we are where we are.

I did play athletics. I don't know if it changes your opinion, but Grant wasn't dressed out. I'm sure he was trying to stick up for his teammate, and short of coming into the stands to fight a fan what was he supposed to do.

I know that since you played athletics you realized the importance of sticking up for your teammates as well. Also, I think anyone who is questioning Grants Fleming's dedication to this program is silly. He was one of the few top flight local athletes to actually suit up and play for this program when he had opportunities elsewhere.

The more the coaches baby the players the harsher the fans are to those players. In the old days, you had coaches like Bear Bryant who were tyrants and basically ran a bootcamp that turned boys into men, now we have coaches that heal with hugs, and as long as that remains, the fans will be rough on the players. Guys like Robe are what you want running your programs. Look at schools like Alabama with Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, or Bob Stoops. I really don't see these guys making excuses when their teams play like garbage, but apparently, bustle thinks that he got this team motivated to play this game...remember, it's everyone's fault except his, just ask him, he'll tell you.

I was on #44 back because he made a stupid play going after a lineman after he was flattened by that player. He said that I should go on the fid and try, and I td him that if it wasn't for people like me, he wouldn't have a scholarship. I told him that he is better than what he is showing and we expect more. Then the mom started screaming at me and I told her that this is not a high school and if she can't take it, then she can go with her son.

I once again was never vulgar and Father asked me to calm down and I did for a while. Then, Grant Fleming, who I have the utmost respect for, turned to me and said "it's just a game". I understand that, but when you are a D1 athlete getting a free education, it's not just a game. Maybe if the Cajuns treat this as more than a game, we won't get embarrassed like norma to an 0-26 team.

Why you want to ruin Grant's reputation like that?

All players should be ready to run through walls for their coach.

If the mentality is it's just a game they will barely run through the tunnel.

Fair criticism. Top flight would be reserved probably for your four and five star recruits.

He also got a bad break, because I was in Monroe two years ago when we just handed it to them. And ever since that injury to him that night he was never the same.
