Thread: Instead of blaming Bustle....

defense did all they could??? by trying to one arm tackle on every play?

    THINGS I SAW TODAY:

Offense that can't catch, can't hold onto the ball, can't or doesn't want to block...

Yes, a quarterback who over-throws everyone, locks in on one receiver, pitches the option WAY too soon, drops like a baby as soon as he sees the defense closing in on him...

Defense that can't tackle, doesn't focus (such as the play when our guy whiffed on the QB and the runningback ran past him like a fool)...

Special teams that can't punt, can't kick, and can't cover or tackle for anything...

And last but not least a team that returns to the sidelines after every play and disperses among themselves to chatting away again, no coaches talking or getting in any players faces...

It all comes down to ZERO DISCIPLINE and that my friends goes back to the HEAD COACH

Your right Bustle did start Masson. But lets see his options coming into the season. Masson only healthy guy with experience. McGuire was hurt. Gauthier was at one time suspended and also hurt at the beginning of the season. So it was Masson or nothing. Kinda.

You can be upset about the performance... and in some cases, yes, it is their fault. WAKE UP MAN!!!!! BUSTLE RECRUITED HIM (although I like masson). BUSTLE CALLED THE PLAYS! WEAK ASS PLAYS!!! IT ALL FALLS ON THE COMMANDER!!!!!!!! You can call Masson a little girl running around, BUT IT'S BUSTLE _______!!!

It baffles me how we could look so good for 3 quarters against Ark. St. And then play like we did tonight. Its the story of Bustles career here.

I'm not talking about coming into the season. I'm talking about tonight. Masson wasn't very good against Georgia and was far short of spectacular against Arkansas State. Gautier's injury at the beginning of the season wasn't enough to keep him out of either of the first two games. As for McGuire, I think he got hurt while practicing at running back (I could be completely wrong about this, but I do remember him taking reps at this position in the spring because of excessive injuries. The fact that coaches would ever allow their number two quarterback to be practicing at running back never sat well with me). By the way, Bustle's ineptitude to make a change at the quarterback position has been a problem for several years.

Chris Masson is deathly afraid of being hit, he curls up into the fetal position if any defender gets near him. Our playcalling is awful, the middle screen doesn't work bc our oline isn't good enough. The zone read doesn't work, our receiver catch like they have no hands. Our defense tackled like middle schoolers, really terrible safety play. Bad special teams. Bad head coach. Fire everybody.

I totally agree. But eventually players have to play. A coach can only put a player in position. The player has to preform. The coach cannot be a catchall for every problem. It's a two way street.

I agree and disagree with you. Masson is a statue in the pocket, and even with that, doesnt have the passing ability to throw over 10 yards accurately. This is a huge problem when you have an offensive line that is getting blown off the ball in passing situations, and are only barely decent in run blocking situations. While Masson is by no means a good QB, its not like the coaches is putting him in a position to be successful, and that falls on bustle. The fact that Bustle is still starting him when Gautier and McGuire (pre-injury) were better options falls directly on him. The fact that through the first 3 quarters that first down was almost always guaranteed a pass play falls directly on Bustle (why the hell would you not run). Finally, the straw that broke my back tonight, the thing that made me seriously think that I'd rather have an assistant coach run the team and go 1-11 than have this buffoon as the coach for one more second was getting the ball back with 7+ minutes to go in the game, and literally killing the clock, and having no urgency to even attempt to still try to win the game. That is an insult to me, the 17,000+ other fans that were at the game, and worst of all, its a huge insult to the players on the team. Seriously, he needs to go make bad McDonalds commercials somewhere else, cuzz his shtick is getting really old.

I'm done with being emotionally invested in a Rickey Bustle coached football team. I'll still go tailgate and I'll watch the games but the losses aren't going to ruin my night.

This thread boils down to two things:

    1. We are not recruiting good enough players. Especially on the lines. Even our O Line last year that was so good. Two of the players Bustle and Fisher were orginally walkons. We have also not had a DE or DT be anywhere close to the top of the league since Bustle arrived.

    2. We have no offensive identity.

We started the triple zone read with Babb. It was deadly with Mike and Fenroy. Then, we simply did not pick personell to fill the holes. If we want to run the zone read, we might as well let Gauthier or McGuire run it 90% of the time.

I've been a Cajun football fan my whole life. Until we put something close to a decent product on the field. Tailgating will increasingly become an LSU viewing party. We might as well project the game on the side of Cajun field
