Masson seemed to have a VERY dificult time "reading" the defense Saturday and then the O-line seemed flat to be kind and did not give a dancing QB much time to throw whether in the pocket or sprinting out, the line also seemed to run block only when they wanted to and that was not too often. When the ball was not sailing over the heads of the recievers there were some good catches but also some bad drops. Streeter looked great!

Defense NEEDS to learn HOW to TACKLE!!!! Bumping and arm tackling is NOT how it is done. WRAP THEM UP MEN, PLEASE!!!

Special teams were even inconsistant at times.

Not a good game by any stretch. Damm.

You can't solely blame Masson for last night's poor performance....

Let's start with an O-line that couldn't pick up a blitz the entire game. It was obvious that the MTSU coaches watched the tape from the UGA game. But, come on, this isn't SEC caliber talent you're playing out there... our O-line is supposed to be able to stop these guys.

Defensive players missing tackles the entire night. Come on, people! I saw players making errors on tackles that you're taught to avoid in frickin' middle school. And what was that zone defense our secondary was trying to play? MTSU was able to pass the ball into the flat the entire game.

That said, Masson is not capable of playing an option offense. Period. Combine that with our inability to provide any sort of pass protection and you get the result we had on scoreboard last night.

And we had two weeks to prepare for these guys. I said earlier in the season that it was too early to think about tar and feathering Bustle. Well, now's time to start thinking about plucking the chickens... this keeps up, we're going to see that 2-10 record some of the national media was predicting for us.

MTSU in the first half saw that Masson is a big baby in the pocket. So they pinned their ears back constantly. It worked almost every time. They rarely sacked him, but it was a practice in futility watching Masson try to figure out the blitz that he seen on every single drive of the game. The moment that sums up the entire night, Masson's option pitch for negative 5 yards. He wasn't this bad last year. He seemed decent enough. It may have been the O line we had last year. But when you are blitzed for the umpteenth time and you make the wrong read for the umpteenth time it's time to pull him.

Now the coaching staff.....after sleeping on it, you guys are right. This is a double blame. The coaching staff was god awful. Masson can't handle the blitz, lets not give him any extra blockers in the backfield. Masson is having trouble making reads and can't handle the pressure and is forcing throws into coverage. Keep passing. Special teams coach needs to be fired. And Fourqier needs to run his D until they puke. And after they puke....tackling drills. Plus the 6 yard cushion the MTSU wide outs got all night, is just broken and needs to be fixed. Three words for Bustle.....RUN THE BALL!!!! We all saw what Streeter and Spikes are capable of. It's time to think about the future. No Masson, No shankle. Let's get ready for next year now. Give the youngens some playing time.

Defense missed a ton of tackes and this is all I heard about on the local news going into the season. Bustle bragged that this was his "best defense" he has seen in all the years he has been coaching here.

What I saw last night was horrible tackling. Lance Kelley.... wow.
We can blame Masson, but the whole team played horrible. We even kicked the ball out of bounds on a kickoff! We seemed to start on our own 20 while MTSU was near the 40 - midfield.

The team played bad. I don't think you can blame Masson.

    Poor coaching??? Yes!

4th and 1 let's do the same exact play we did last time. Put in Gauthier and run up the middle. MIX IT UP! You can't run the same exact play!

3rd and 7 Masson takes off up the middle with nowhere to go.

Sadly I wasn't upset like I've been in the past over this loss. I was actually in Troy when they beat the crap out of us two year ago. Still had fun tailgaiting and being with friends at the game. It's become a social event!

CajunHawk you're one of the biggest Dummies on this forum. The QB is a position. The coach is supposed to coach that position, correct that position, and if that position is not performing well pull him and replace him with another player. The COACHING staff is incharge of that.

To say the defense did all they could makes me think you are mentally challenged as they performed HORRIBLE and looked like they couldnt tackle your 9 year old neice the way they were afraid to just put a body on someone, simply rap up and take the person with the ball down.

For someone who barely understands the fundamentals of football, you sure do talk a hell of a lot about it.

I agree the head recruiter Wingerter is killing you. I know 3 players that wanted to come two years ago and he just brushed them off saying they were not good enough. Two are playing D1 somewhere else and one is playing D1 basketball. All of them would of played till the last second and never gave up. Recruiting is the key so yes COACH lose and PLAYERS win. That is the way I take my wins and loses.

    1. We are not recruiting good enough players. Especially on the lines. Even our O Line last year that was so good. Two of the players Bustle and Fisher were orginally walkons. We have also not had a DE or DT be anywhere close to the top of the league since Bustle arrived.

    2. We have no offensive identity.

We started the triple zone read with Babb. It was deadly with Mike and Fenroy. Then, we simply did not pick personell to fill the holes. If we want to run the zone read, we might as well let Gauthier or McGuire run it 90% of the time.

I've been a Cajun football fan my whole life. Until we put something close to a decent product on the field. Tailgating will increasingly become an LSU viewing party. We might as well project the game on the side of Cajun field

    1. I disagree, I believe we recruit great talent, just don't coach them correctly to improve their skills. Don't work with them enough to correct their weak points.

    2. The fact that you have to adjust your playbook to the talent that you recruit is key. If you plan on starting a QB that is more susceptible to the Pass then Teach the O-Line to pass block. If you have a mobile QB then adjust to that etc.

The lack of creativity from Bustle and playcalling is what hurts us the most as almost every play is obviously predictable and if you just study a game or 2 of film, the opposing team will see that and eat us alive. That is why we will never be able to out perform any major teams and conference rivals like FAU, MTSU, Troy.

What I'm worried about is WKU and FIU's offense have definitely improved this year and North Texas Beat FAU last night. It could be a scary road from here on out if it happens to be the same as last night.

What I saw last night was an O-Line that was unable to block, putting pressure on a quarterback... giving him very little time to throw to receivers that could not get separation.
On defense, even though we rush 5 or 6 at times, we couldn't get in. They mixed up plays enough to make us look silly.
Are our guys just not as athletic as theirs? I don't think so.
    We were out coached again.

This has happened too many times. It starts at the top. I don't care what happens for the rest of the season..........a change must be made.

while you're at it blame Lance Kelly, that guy sucks

I know I can't play D1 ball but my goodness he is responsible for so many big plays. and then on that one play where they blitzed him and it forced the QB to throw a bad pass he started jumping around and hollering like he had just sacked michael vick. give me a break act like you've been there it was an average play. I didn't see him jumping around and hollering when he gave up back to back plays where he whiffed a tackle at the line and they picked up a big gain, then the very next play he got burned for a long TD
