Thread: Parrott Blog: UL recruit list

  1. Default Re: Parrott Blog: UL recruit list

For you guys that played high school football---You can probably remember being awed by the Senior starters as a fresh or soph------ Also you can probably remember the kids that played behind you when they were younger and how much better you were!!! Well try to compare you and the older and younger kids when you were all seniors----Now enter the ages of the Seniors and MORE IMPORTANTLY their physical maturation---now factor in their playing time in other sports and that effect on their weight training----Now factor in their eligibility---Now factor in their DESIRE to play and their willingness to work to be successful at the college level---girl friend problems???? I can remember my senior year when the pre-season stars listed were not as good as some 2nd teamers were when the year ended---The kids always seemed to know more than the coaching staff-----I was told many times in recruiting who were the players by the players on their own team or whom they played against---they were correct---In Recruiting it is tough to choose whom you will offer --now good luck getting them!!!! LOL

That last tailback that was supposed to come in took a visit to Utah this weekend.

From what I've heard, the class is done at 22.

I am guessing that this is in one game and not his senior year? I like his size but I will be pretty unimpressed if this is all he did his senior year. Someone said earlier that we have trouble recruiting WRs and I think they are right. We need a stud with this guy's size.

Also, Josh, can you shed any light on this rumor that Tyren Johnson will play one year of football. I am beginning to find that to be something that will never happen. He's having a really good year as a senior and I would expect him to play in either the developmental league or somewhere overseas.

Josey is not one of the commitments. Stafford (Texas) High's Boris Anyama told me that he played RB, LB, QB and DB in high school but will be a receiver at UL. Good size at 6-3 and a good athlete. Accounted for nearly 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns as a dual-threat QB in 2009.

Remember that Tyren was "70 percent" sure back in August that he wanted to play football. That was before a tremendous senior season in basketball in which he is ranked in the league's top 13 in six categories.

He told me the other day that he is focused on basketball and probably won't try football. Makes sense. He's going to have a shot to play pro basketball after this season, either in the states or overseas.
