Stover did not kick extra points or short field goals this year. He was used on kickoffs and long field goals.
Is he related to Matt Stover?
No, he is not related to Matt.
Remember, 63% touchbacks after playing defense 100% sometimes on rain soaked sloppy filelds. Returns are going to happen, just the nature of the beast. Also, he was offense inside of the red zone.
I have to agree with some minor top-notch kicking coaching...he will give us something to watch.
Nice blog guys
Man you guys should have seen the Nebraska game---that kind of kicking puts your butt in a serious field disadvantage!!!!!
I'm more concerned about the SBC games. Not only did we give way too many average offensive SBC teams far too short of a field... even when/if our defense made a stand, we would hand our offense a long field to work with. It is a serious, serious UL football problem we have to turn in our favor.
New to UL ball here...who is and how was last years place kicker?
We couldn't kick the ball deep and our KO coverage was equally poor. Opponents starting field position following KOs was always past their own 40. We generally gave opponents only 55 yards or less to paydirt. Many offensive playcalling advantages are found only once you past the 50. UL, on the other hand, found ourselves inside our own 25 yard line on a consistent basis. Our opponents moved the ball only 30 yards to strike for a score. UL had to move the ball 30 yards to keep out of trouble. UL is not a deep strike, deep threat offense. You cannot expect nibbler (3 to 7 yard gain) offenses to move 75 to 80 every series. It is a huge problem and we need to correct it.
