Stover said he understands that and just wants a chance at some point to play defense, too. _

Thanks Josh. I know he wanted to play defense more than just kick but i guess if he has the chance to kick right away then i guess that appealed to him.

Thanks for your comments and welcome to the board.

I spoke with Hunter earlier today, and he was excited about the chance to both kick and play defense in college. He knows he's going to get on the field first as a kicker but just wants a chance. The fact Molbert will be here in the fall also played a factor in his decision.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Thanks Josh. I can see Hunter kicking off and Molbert covering kicks.

You put 15 lbs. on him he is still a very undersized LB. Right now he might be 200 lbs. Our smallest LB this season was Zanders at 230 lbs. and people said we were undersized.

Our smallest LB was probably McCoy and/or Lewis-Buchanan as neither was more than 220. Their weights may have been listed higher but I spoke with McCoy and he told me that he has not played over 220 and is lucky to stay at that weight much past the beginning of the season. Zanders was one of our biggest LB's

I don't profess to know much about kickers from the side --but in the film, he looks like there is hardly any effort in his kicks------what happens when he gains 15-20 lbs and really attacks the ball?????

And when he can spend more time kicking in practice and not have to play full-time on defense and punt, too?

You are right Boomer. He did not spend much time practicing kicking in HS. Right now his mechanics are poor and with some coaching and practice he will get better.

I don't know if putting on more size will make him kick the ball any better, but if he has the genetics of the Stover men in him, he will get much bigger than 200 lbs before his UL days are over. He's probably more likely to put on 30 to 40 lbs under our strength and conditioning program over the next 2 years. Again, if the Stover DNA has anything to say about it.

If the guy's already kicking near-60 yard field goals and consistently kicking off out of the end-zone, the LAST thing you want to do is screw around with his mechanics!! You let him practice kicking the way HE knows how. The way it sounds now, there's very little anyone can do to help this guy improve his kicking distance.
