Complaining about the University on the boards and in public hurts UL,
and it hurts the Ragin' Cajuns.

Negativity undermines our recruiting, fundraising, attendance, and ticket sales.

UL WAS NOT A LEADER IN THIS!!!!!! You were sued, taken to court, and ORDERED by a judge to allow blacks in. UL DID NOT DO THIS VOLUNTARLY!!!!! YOU WERE MADE TO DO IT IN FACT YOUR ADMINISTRATION AT THE TIME FOUGHT IT. Please don't make yourselves out to be some kind of forward thinking university. Like virually all colleges and universities in the South at the time you fought this tooth and nail.

READ THE ARTICLE YOU WERE SUED, TAKEN TO COURT, ULL DID NOT VOLUNTARLY DESEGREGATE!!!!! Granted you may have been ahead of LSU and the rest of the South but you were ordered by a judge to do it.

I don't see how this thread could generate 400 views and only result in 17 clicks to UL Today. We must be clicking but not finding what we went there for.

Perhaps you could start providing a link directly to the article in your post? _
I posted the QB club notes, with a direct link, and within an hour 40 people had read it. Within 24 hours it was over 130 views, and today, it's over 190 views.

In 24 hours however, the deseg article-- again, with a direct link here-- has had only attracted 16 views.

Some non-sports articles do OK, even without a direct link here: Vote Beausoleil, about 60 views, UL's SBDC Director taking top honors, less than 40 views.

So we care about football a lot more than academics and other things. But there seems to be a definite resistance to the deseg story.

Why do you guys & gals think that is?

'Cause we're all bucktooth, football loving racists!!

Raginpagin.com = primarily a sports forum. So when the "secondary" topic comes up, it attracts "secondary" interest.

And my guess at the deseg story: Most people avoid anything involving race because it's a touchy subject that makes people uncomfortable. Sports forums are an escape from reality, therefore most people here would probably steer clear.

So people here feel that academics is of 'secondary' importance in a university?

Or is it just of secondary importance to them?

It's of secondary importance within the context of this forum.

If you were on an academic forum, I would expect the QB club notes to be of little or no interest to most of the participants. Since you are on a sports forum...

One solution would be for less people to click on the QB Club notes. We would then have a better academic to athletic ratio.
