Thats the mark of a young QB. Nobody knows that rules until they see it or it happens to them.

Maybe in highschool. All college QBs should know that rule. It isn't like I fault him for the kneejerk attempt under fire... but afterwards... he shouldn't have been looking at the ref with a "what did I do wrong?" He should have known. Today, Riley Dodge is asking if that footage can be stricken from replay.
I was sitting on the other side of the field and did not see the play, but talked to someone afterwards who said he saw the holding basically happen right in front of him. I have no reason to doubt him.
It was "holding" when he called it, but I think...
He said that to quiet the two North Texas defensive backs screaming in his face that the ball was "uncatchable" and it was...
Had they not influenced him that way he may have called Pass interference, had he done that... then after a conference the flag would have likely been "waived off"
Refs, or at least I've never seen it, waive off a penalty after they throw a flag before making a call because of something a player says...
I feel like he threw the flag for P.I. realized it was uncatchable from the North Texas players, and changed the call before he made the signal to holding [which happened... the receiver was held]
That was a break.... the planets were lining up.
I was on the sideline. There was a hold, although I think the official originally was going to call pass interference.
