You are telling the simple truth of it.
If "lesser" BCS programs will schedule us and pay us equal to the perennial top 20s, that would be preferable. But, kind of like you mentioned in another post, how do you know when you start working out scheduling whether that team is going to be in the up or down mode?
There are a group of "lower tier" BCS schools we should target, but I believe they either don't pony up the money, or have enough similar requests. I think people on here that criticize our schedule makers don't have any clue that it isn't a "you pick em" at your discretion.
