Interesting football scheduling

Notre Dame is playing Washington St. in San Antonio in October. There was a deal to play Baylor at the Superdome in 2012 (I believe) but, ND decided to pull out of the arrangement before contract was signed. I would have enjoyed making the game.
I really like the idea of neutral site games like Bama vs Clemson/Va Tech. LSU will likely play UNC in Atlanta to kickoff 2010. Not sure if ULL is at the point of being able to play neutral site games but, it would be fun to see since that is the trend in college football.

I don't think this game approaches the A&M game, and I'll be delighted if I'm wrong. I think Southern will bring probably 6-8K and UL will have 24K-26K. _

If the Cajuns have 30K plus in back-to-back games against Southern and K-State, it will be a first in the history of this football program.

That's what I've been screaming. It's just not logical to think they will bring that many people when they don't support it at home. Like you said, the "events" that they bring tons of people are areas with large alumni bases and they are in itself "events" usually against another SWAC team for which they have an interest in defeating. I've been skeptical of their ability to bring that many people and I hope they do not. I do not want to play a home game where the visiting crowd and especially their band, will be louder than the home crowd.

Well, a big reason for not selling out the allotment is because a lot of our fans have attended a game at Tiger Stadium as the visiting crowd and its not exactly the best experience, I'll leave it at that.

The Cajundome was selling tickets to the 9/19 game against Louisiana State last week. They may still have some left.

I wish they would advertise it better because i have friends that have been working on other avenues to get tickets because everyone had heard the 14th was the last day.

opening game, interesting opponent, chance to go 1-0, good weather, local interest in Southhern's band, I don't see why ther shhouldn't be 25,000 UL fans in the stands and if Southern brings 10,000 only 4000 above the allotment that is supposedly already sold opening weekend should be a great one

Most logical minds agree. If Southern brings more, great. But, the more reasonable 30-35k is still a "packed stadium" for us. I seriously doubt Southern is going to travel to Cajun Field comparable to their big away events... as you say. UL isn't used to seeing 2k opposing fans at Cajun Field... so it's going to be a nice atmosphere for the game regardless.

I have had bad experiences too, but not for the reasons you are alluding to. My bad experiences are associated with watching our team get their arse kicked up and down the field. I have never been able to stomach more than 3 quarters.
I will be going again this year, only because I got free tickets. Judging by ticket sales I think the novelty of paying $50 to watch LSU embarrass us has worn off.

I've had some miserable experiences with opposing fans in Athens (in your face barking as we left the stadium), Auburn (tons of Katrina references fresh after the storm), Gainesville (hit in the face by water bottle), etc but that doesn't keep me from making these trips. However, these trips wouldn't be as attractive if LSU consistently got drilled by 40+ points. While I'm sure your theory does hold some water, I think a lot of it has to do with how poorly UL has played in Tiger Stadium. I believe the average score in the series is 45-1. If UL starts to field more competitive teams, then I think you will see the UL attendance increase. Our tailgate for the last few games has been 50/50 and nobody has had any problems. In fact, 2 of my 4 tickets are used by UL fans and we've had no incidents in the stadium. Having said that, I know there are isolated incidents that do ruin the experience for certain fans and I'm sorry for that.
