Given those choices, a 10-2 record is obviously the better choice, but the question is flawed.
A 2-10 record with a win over lsu-br is much more improbable than a 10-2 record with a loss to them.
A more believable comparison is a 5-7 record with a win over the tiggers versus the 10-2 record with the bowl bid.
...and I would take the win over lsu-br and the 5-7 record over the bowl bid and 10-2 every day of the week.
I understand the bragging rights issue; but winning that game, then literally tanking the remainder of the season would be awful! Kind of like being unable to build on the A&M game in the 90's. From a "program" standpoint, a solid winning season (9, 10 games won) and a good showing in a bowl, does much more for recruiting, attendance, and sustaining excitement into the next season, and so on.
10-2 with a bowl. This has got to be the dumbest question ever asked. I'd lose 100 - 0 to them every year if that would guarantee me 10 wins and a bowl.
And I hate those s.o.b.'s.
