Watching the interview on ESPN with Isiah Thomas, new basketball coach for Florida International. Isiah donated a years salary to FIU. How nice.
I was just listening to Jim Rome and he played back to introduction of Isiah as the new coach at FIU. I assume the person introducing him was the AD, although it could have been the President. In any event, he was introduced as Isiah Thompson. Rome is calling FIU, Florida Amateur University (isn't there another FAU?). This is a tough blunder to overcome. At least Rome didn't say there was anything negative or amateurish about the SBC.
FIU is paying him (their basketball coach) between 200-300k/year.
...which is what we pay our football coach.
Will a lack of student fees for athletics be the death of our sports program?
On another note: Cyprien interviewed for an assistant spot at Memphis and is expected to get it.
