Wonder if FIU's trying to take FAU's lead and hire a famous name who isn't all that good of a coach to psoition their basketball program for bowl berths they don't deserve? Wierd, but believable...

16-18 year olds never watched Isiah Thomas play. This hire will not improve their recruiting on his name alone. If anything, he can hide down in Florida and escape his own life.

I like how this hire is being dubbed an "unlikely" and "bizarre" hire from most media outlets. I'm not counting eggs before they hatch, but I think in the long run FIU will regret this hire. Sure your program is getting national attention right now, but what happens when this stunt fails and the national eye is on you. It's easy to bury a losing season at FIU. But when you have a hall of fame player as a coach. Those losing seasons become national headlines. If this were UL hiring, I would be very afraid. Very.
