We batted like 330 as a team in 2005. That's the difference. They also had a few guys pitching their butts off that year too. Not an accident they won the conference and ended up in a regional. And I know cajun2bag would back me up on that. They also had the "passion" he was talking about. To compare this team to that team is insane.

They had 6 guys on the bump they could count on game in and game out that year. Ardoin did lose his last 5 starts and there was some controversy but he also won his first 10 straight. We don't have one guy that you can compare to that pitching staff on this team.

I agree with you on the hitting part, but I would say we have had good to very good pitching, not great. Our problem in the pitching department has been with depth. Look at 2002. Once we got past Gabriel and Gros, we didn't have much. Same in 2005 when we went to the Tulane regional. 2007 was the exception, but again, we didn't have the bats to get us out of the regional.

In 2005 Ardoin and Faught anchored the staff very well. The team swung the bat with alot of arrogance. I remember watching an intersquad game just before opening day. They were crushing the ball all over the yard. I thought right then if they had decent pitching they were going to be successful that season. The line up was deep. They won about a dozen more games than the year prior.

we held each other accountable! There wasn't anyone on that team that didn't want to be up at the plate with the game on the line! We did not have the best talent in the country, but we made the most of the talent that we had!

The problem is that they know they have to pitch a perfect game to win. They know that they are going to get limited run support and its hard to pitch when you don't have confidence in the guys in the field and at the plate.

No need to get personal. For the record, I am not insane, just a passionate UL fan (I know, those two can get confusing at times)

I wasn't comparing this years team with the 2005 team.

Faugth and Ardoin were tremendous. There was also one guy on that staff that I thought could have really helped out, but for one reason or another, Coach did not use him enough (in my opinion). His name was Ian Pecarero.

Geez, way to really compare your 2005 team to a 6-9-1 2009 team. Every team should be compared to the 99-00 Cajuns. That was a bunch of men. No team comes close to them except maybe 2007.

_ Ok. Pick ONE more newcommer that is doing well. Better yet pick one guy period you can say is playing well. Fuse will get the start against UALR this weekend and we will see how he does. Buts let's remember cook and Osborne made Nebraska look like a sunbelt
team... They have had two bad starts against USM who is a great hitting team and FAU which is not a bad hitting team too. I'll see how he does against a team like troy and then I'll tell you what I think then about fuse but I'm not impressed with him at this point.

Are you not impressed with Fuselier as a pitcher or a hitter??? If you aren't impressed with him as a pitcher than you fell on your head because he has easily been our most consistent arm. You say Cook and Osbourne made Nebraska look like a SBC team, well Fuselier pitched almost as well against them too. He had 6 IP and 4 ER.

Of our starters, only Wilborn has a better ERA. Wilborn! not Cook or Osbourne.

I think our staff is fine no matter who starts on weekends. All 4 guys can get it done.

Oh yea, and Alex is only a true Freshman who has not seen college batters until this season as opposed to the other guys.
