Thread: "Retired Jerseys"

    Default "Retired Jerseys"

This past basketball season I saw players wearing jersey numbers that are supposedly retired. Namely the Bo Lamar 10 and the Andrew Toney 24.

It aggravated me at the beginning of the season but I had no background info behind it and in my mellow years I let it slide.

But then the guy wearing the 10 (arguably the most iconic number in all Cajun athletics) decides to enter the portal after one year wearing it.

So what are we doing here? Is everything for sale now? Do we have retired jerseys or not? We may have to deal with NIL, but can't we protect retired jerseys?

    100% agree.

That said, if NIL existed in Bo’s era, someone would have “bought” the whole team.

USC asked Matt Leinert to allow an incoming graham. To wear his jersey number, he told them to kiss his _____.

    For that exact reason.

With Bo Lamar's recent death, I hope UL can begin to respect "RESPECT" his legacy ... and retired number.

I read that too. Good for him.

He basically said his number (and others at USC) should not be offered to these pre-Madonna’s who’ve proven absolutely nothing to deserve wearing historical greatness. They haven’t earned crap before stepping on campus.

Being a huge Bo Lamar fan since I was a kid, I have found it really strange seeing someone else wearing #10 in a Cajun basketball uniform. Just doesn't seem right. I am of the opinion that the #10 basketball uniform should not be worn again, ever.

Total disrespect the same year Lamar died.

You can retire a jersey without retiring a number.
