Thread: Softball presser Monday

A few takeaways: Why would you say you have someone on the bench that you trust to get big hits in the games, yet not give them more at bats and keep putting players in the lineup that aren't producing? Give Soto some at bats to get in the groove. Saying a three home run is like watching paint dry is puzzling.

You guys can get used to the bunting. She is saying it is the right call, but the players aren't regularly executing it even though they work on it all the time. She compared a national title game played 14 years ago that Gasso bunted with the best player in the game. The problem is the game has now changed to a power game.

Still searching for vocal leadership on the team, regardless of what a few others posted saying that the team already has those players. Looks like the staff likes reading RP because the posters are naysayers when it comes to bunting or maybe it is the fans chanting do not bunt during the game? Also it was encouraged that players hold other players accountable to the standard. That has also been mentioned on this site.

Small ball and chaos keep being mentioned together in the same sentence. In my opinion they are actually two different things. If small ball is the goal then they shouldn't have let good local small ball players leave the state.

    Love it!

If one listens to “hear” what she is saying vs. what they “want to hear” you can do nothing but respect her reasoning. Whether personally agree or not she has conviction, purpose and confidence in her reasoning.

    I personally love her responses.

We are listing to exactly what she is saying and not adding to it. Go listen to her and Jay interview. The good thing about the video is anyone can listen and not put words into anyone mouth when it comes straight from the head coaches mouth.I personally loved it when he asked her what is up with all the bunting.

Well, I just watched coach's presser and she explained things pretty well, at least to me. I understand what she is saying, however, execution is the key, as it is in all aspects of the game. A bad bunt doesn't mean it was a bad play; it just wasn't executed properly. It is no worse that hitting away and popping up.

We all have our own opinions; I am not a big bunter fan either, but when it succeeds it does just like she said. It makes the other team have to prepare for something else, which in turn opens up some field to hit to or through.

It was a good series win, but we still are a BI-Polar softball team. We can beat top 25 teams one day and get run ruled by anyone the next. Hoping to see some consistency this week yet again.

It creates chaos on defense. Hey, it’s throwing a curve ball, figuratively speaking, of course! Talent level may not be the same as in the past and Coach Habetz is coaching these ladies to put them in the best position to win. Gotta trust her. Congratulations on the series win over TX St.

For years I have thought the bunt only creates chaos in two scenarios.

    1) The opponent has no idea it's coming and or is playing back.

    2) A bunt that hugs the first base line and goes half the distance towards first base..

The second one is almost indefensible even if they know it's coming .
