Seems to be a familiar place for him. You could tell in his last game he was working on his film presentation. Dude shot the ball every time he got it.
Hopefully after this we can re retire the #10 jersey for good this time.
The second to last game where he dunked instead of running the clock out was a clear stat padding career high for points I’m gone move.
Q should have sat him the last game it was so obvious.
Given UL only had 4 assists the last game, a whole lot of “me” was on the floor.
Nothing about the current transfer portal surprises me anymore including Olvera heading to the portal.
I don’t get the negativity. He had the green light to shoot all year, and he knocked down some big ones. When Finister went out with the concussion the last week he had to take on the bulk of the scoring load. That carried over into the tournament as well when Finister expectedly was a little slow working his way back into game action.
I didn’t really care for the dunk at the end of the Georgia State game either (although if that would have been in the Ron Hunter days I would have been all for it). You are going to lose players to the portal every year these days as they look to improve their personal situation. I don’t look at it as a slight to the program, school, or coaching staff at all anymore. Best of luck Jaxson, I enjoyed watching you play.
Forgive me, each time a guy hits the portal I get more jaded as a fan.
When a guy makes it obvious placing himself above team, I pray he finds a speedy path to reality using his degree. The NIL world is fool’s gold.
He was good and scored a bunch for us. He was a turn over machine however at times mostly because he was selfish with the basketball. Let's call it what it is.
Good luck to him.
I agree Hatch. I would have loved for Jaxson to stay and there's nothing stopping him from exiting the portal and doing so but I'm not as hard on him as some here. First, we were really limited in our scoring options this year and that's especially true after Lewis went down and we were already down two starters.
You add that Finister was out for a game or so and Jaxson had to try to take the scoring load into his hands. I would guarantee that coach Q would say the same. Who else can score 1v1 on this team or when you really need a bucket? Mejia?? lol.
People mentioned turnovers and he did have some and he did when he was trying to do too much on a depleted team but PG's across the board often lead their teams in turnovers just as they lead in assists because they have the ball in their hands the most and most plays originate with them.
I was actually kind of excited about this team going into next year and I'm not going to lose that enthusiasm as we will have to see if Q has someone up his sleeve that may be able to come in and fill Jaxson's shoes or even more. Let's see.
