Thread: Kyle Brady brings new approach to UL softball's pitching staff

  1. UL Softball Kyle Brady brings new approach to UL softball's pitching staff

When it comes to pitching this spring for the UL softball team, just about every aspect of the staff will be new.

One could argue that’s a good thing after an inexperienced staff gave up 391 hits and only struck out 191 batters in 356⅓ innings with a 3.79 team ERA. Opponents hit .282.

I asked the internet about Kyle Brady, here you go.

Programs that bring him in typically see:
    - Immediate jumps in strikeout rate
    - More competitive pitch shapes
    - Better command through mechanical cleanup
    - A deeper, more reliable staff rather than one ace carrying the load

🔭 What to watch for this season
If Brady’s approach takes hold, you’ll probably see:
    - A rise in riseballs and dropballs with sharper movement
    - More two‑strike put‑away pitches
    - Pitchers with cleaner, more efficient arm paths
    - A staff that attacks hitters instead of nibbling
    - A noticeable shift in confidence and tempo in the circle

UL has always been a program that thrives when its pitching is aggressive and disruptive. Brady’s style aligns with that DNA.

We’ll see. 2026 and ‘27 seasons will arguably be the most important in program history. And they’re only going as far as the arms can take them.

I understand the pitching by committee approach. However, it would be great to have an ace pitcher.

See Sam Landry, Summer Ellyson, Megan Kleist, Alyssa Denham, Christina Hamilton, Alex Steward, Jordan Wallace, Ashley Brignac.

I remember when the Jets drafted him with a Top 10 pick in the 1995 NFL Draft. Dang that franchise has made some horrible first round draft decisions, which keeps them picking in the Top 10 almost every dang season.

Hope he's able to bring huge improvements to our program.

The photo of Kyle James Brady born in Pennsylvania is not the person that is coaching at UL. The second part after the =========////////////////// is about our Coach. He did not play in the NFL and he was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Our Kyle is 6'9" tall and has dark hair. He was a baseball pitcher. Our Kyle was born July 17, 1987. This is a composite of two different people.
