Grant money comes with a boatload of documentation per the CFR. Seen more than my fair share of NGOs go hog wild on grant money only to say “I didn’t know” when audited.

Those types of NGOs need to be shutdown…or at least never given taxpayer monies again, which would in effect shut them down.

Literally, trillions of dollars have been stolen through NGOs over the last couple of decades.

R1 will slowly, but continually, boost us in all academic rankings, including USN&WR, probably the most influential. And when it finally gets out that we are the state's research leader, there are parents and students-- particularly the kind of students we want to attract here-- who pay attention to those things.

Think about it. Too many people around the country think a 'good' university is one that wins in sports. People have admired LSU & Tech for those reasons.

But then, they haven't had any better criteria for making comparisons. UL is giving them better criteria.
The biggest difference is Boise State has aspirations of advancement. Whereas we do not, we will never leave the SBC.

My biggest complaint is that we have been deceitful. We have misrepresented our enrollment and our status.

We operated at a deficit and embarrassed this university and its alumnus. We are the most despised university in the state and I completely understand why.

Most addressed the findings, did witness a few shutdowns or cutting off funding. It’s not just NGOs.

Heck, look at LCG and grant money and the legislative audits concerning flood mitigation what “allegedly” happened. Sometimes you get too much money, have a spending window and stop signs are ignored. Thats far from over.

Took the feds over a decade to press the state for reimbursements on Katrina/Rita money.

Disaster money, rarely is the word “no” conducive to future employment. And ALL the parties involved with the money want it spent ASAP.

It all comes down to bureaucratic checks and balances. And never commingle funds, recipe for disaster.

If they really had aspired to advance why didnt they take any of the academic steps necessary?

I don't agree with the author, not much data given to back up it's claim. Hey Fun, Did you live in Lafayette in the 1970's and into the 80's. I did, and I assure you, Lafayette was centered around the Oil Industry. When an industry has tremendous growth, it takes up along with it many other business categories. I worked for a short time while in Elec. Engineering at an independent Oil producer around 1985. Even though the Oil industry slowed by then, the momentum it had carried well into that decade. It wasn't the only reason for growth, but it was the dominant reason.

We will see if it boosts anything.

There is no world in which we will not accept a bowl bid in 2025. The entire final month of the season had the bowl bid as a goal and that is a major reason the team played so hard. Granted, finances are a concern. However athletics did raise over 75 grand on giving day this past Tuesday. That could help with bowl game finances.
