Gunner pitching staff stunk for two years walk the park. No loss there at all go get a guy who can coach pitching with experience. Deggs tried giving gunner a shot at coaching and he flopped that is a fact

I don’t know how much control he had with the pitching. If everything holds to be true, we’ll be looking for our 4th pitching coach in 6 years and all the other coaches weren’t able to call the pitches

That’s what I’m saying! Gunner is and always will be an all time great Cajun!

As a pitching coach, we didn’t see any progression from our arms under his tutelage.

Some updated info on Gunner.

Talked to Virginia Tech and Missouri and has an interview with Southern Miss tomorrow. He also has had conversations with both professional organizations that tried to hire him last year with
Cleveland and St Louis.

Which again begs the question: why?

If Deggs is calling pitches and Gunner is handcuffed by him, then I could understand.

But if Gunner is calling pitches... well that, paired with the step back our entire staff took this year, I'm curious what the interest is based on

According to D1 Baseball it appears there are a handful of schools who are looking for a PC. Those include Little Rock, Oregon, Rice, Southern Miss(lost their Asst Pitching), UC Riverside, USC Upstate. Virginia Tech and Missouri have hired PC's so could potentially be bringing Gunner in a different role? Not sure.

Gunner was great with the kids and I am sure will be a great asset to any program. He was a Cajun great. Wish him well.

However, Deggs and Gunner obviously weren't on the same page. It happens. Hopefully he hires a good one soon that will help bolster the final roster headed into the fall.

That's interesting! Deggs added two new pitchers last week two his program without a pitching coaching in place; JC RHP Garret Carter (that was committed to Alabama earlier this season) and Cowan Alfonso from Louisiana College

Just more weird stuff coming out of this program right now. I’ll be the first to admit that the Gunner Leger experiment might have been a miss after his first two years as PC. But I’m still willing to let him settle in. Still not sure what’s going on in terms of what his role is/was on this staff.

But to see a guy who was an All-American for this university not only be willing to leave, but even think about heading to USM or any other G5 program is head scratching in the worst way. I’m getting a stronger and stronger feeling that Deggs is just a pain to work with, play for, etc. There’s a difference between being hard on your players and staff and being hard to work with.

I have NO clue what’s actually going on inside. I’m just a fan. But from where I’m sitting right now it just looks like a mess.
