Just say no to the PAC. nothing positive about it here. Especially for a CBS sports tv deal. Yuck
Well Brett McMurphy is reporting LaTurd to the SBC is immanent.
But all of these "examples and reasons" are speculative. It all comes down to money.
Nobody can legitimately say what PAC's media deal will pay.
Nobody can say what kind of media deal PAC will have after 2031.
Nobody can say if whether UL would get a full share, or a %.
Nobody can say what the other PAC members will do long-term.
PAC is not stable. SBC is stable. Leaving SBC for PAC under these conditions would be going all in on a terrible hand, all with the hopes that it will just "work out".
You're right, no one can legitimately say what the PAC's media deal will pay, but if was so low, then no MWC or Texas State would be headed that way. Nonetheless, it will be more than what we are getting in the SBC. Looking past the media deal, the move would do so so much for our university. Look at Texas State, this time last year they weren't on the radar for anyone and then all the sudden, they become the most popular girl at school- everyone wants them. Just think what that could do for us here? Change our perception, increase student-engagement, alumni-engagement, donations, better competitions etc.
Nobody can say what kind of media deal the PAC will have after 2031??? The same thing can be said about the SBC.....or AAC...or MWC.
Full share, 75% or 50% are likely to be higher than what we have now. Negotiate for a tiered share like the new Big12 and new AAC have done. As long as we continue to progress, then I'm okay with that because, as mentioned, the exposure benefits are so valuable.
Nobody can say what the other PAC members will do long-term. Again, that can be said about ANY conference including the SBC. It's very likely they are all trying to be on the right side when the split happens and we need to be too. If the rumors of the SBC-East staying together and splitting away, then what happens to us? That move has been talked about for a while.
Someone commented in the other thread about how our fan base is older and that we need to start focusing on the younger generation. They're correct and a move like this would be a step in the right direction.
Again with the false argument of we can't do anything because we don't know what will happen and isn't our current home so cozy and stable.
Even if we moved and we fell flat on our face, the cozy stable sbc will always be there with open arms for us, and everybody knows this.
This is literally the worst argument against moving.
