I want them kicked off of the message board, Jon!
University sports are a product. Must protect at all costs attitude is universal.
Here’s a good example of a university attempting to control the narrative. UCONN and Coach Hurley’s rant. Guess no press pass anymore.
The reporter who captured Dan Hurley's viral, expletive-filled rant following UConn's loss to Florida in the NCAA tournament is reportedly in hot water over the clip. UConn's director of communications Bobby Mullen reportedly threatened to "ruin" the reporter's life if he did not remove the video of Hurley's rant about the refs.
I came back here to re-read the comments.
I suggested an improvement. I never mentioned a utopia. I never even thought about it.
So why do some people, instead of engaging in useful discussion, simply distort the issue to the fantastic? What is the objective of taking a simple suggestion, and stretching it to the ridiculous?
It's puzzling.
I think we can all fend for ourselves pretty good.

Can we down-vote people we don't like?
Hey, Doc. The ignore button works for me.
Agree! There will always be differences in opinions and Turbine/Moderators do a decent job of policing and deleting post when necessary. It seems for those that have a problem with the content, the ignore button should alleviate the concern for the most part. The most worrisome concern is certain individuals trying to create their own board policies that would make it less than tolerant for those that don't share their views.JMO
That will work for those of us who are regular visitors... but most of the visitors here are anonymous. Many of them are high school students, student-athletes, and their parents, trying to find out about UL. Which means that the bad actors here are harming the University.
Others have noted that 'all' sports platforms have these problems. I would hope that being average is not our goal for UL, nor for RaginPagin. Even more, being complacent about obvious problems contradicts why a university exists. In fact, if the problems are indeed widespread, if 'everyone' suffers from them, I would strongly argue that the ultimate goal of a university is to address those problems first.
We can't even be sure that some of the people blasting our University here aren't trolls from other schools, people who only claim to support the Cajuns so that they can run us down.
There are many platforms for sharing views. I would hope that if one's views about UL are mostly, or completely, negative and damaging, that we would not want to serve as the forum for that. In addition, RaginPagin isn't one of our courts, our streets, our parks, nor even our airports (you youngsters need to read about the Hare Krishnas).
This board is a community. And every community has the right to exclude people who damage the community.
Finally, I am not proposing excluding legitimate points of view. I want to exclude nasty attitudes, and boycott those who will not provide the rest of us with the same respect, and tolerance, that we provide them.
“I would hope that if one's views about UL are negative and damaging, that we would not want to serve as the forum for that.”
“Finally, I am not proposing excluding legitimate points of view.“
It sounds like you do in fact want to exclude legitimate points of view.
