We just didn’t look like we were prepared for a game. Energy looked like it was a practice.

As well as our secondary/pass defense has played this season, all season long we have been poor at point of first contact tackling. We've won games in spite of that. It did us in vs. Tulane, where even with the pick 6 & kick return, we still possibly win that game if we can put their QB on the ground when we had him in the backfield.

Marshall's QB took every advantage of us not being able to get him on the ground at initial point of attack and contact.

Has anyone come up with a sensible reason why UL just rolled over & crapped the bed last night? I mean it was for the conference championship. Did these guys just decide to mail it in for the semester? Will the real UL football team show up for it's bowl game? Did they just decide they wanted the 2nd place bowl over the 1st? Did someone really close to the program die? I just don't understand how any group of prideful players could play with such little effort all at once. Were they on strike? I'm seriously not trying to be funny. It was very sad & extremely unexpected to see this. It was for me anyway. I mean how do you let a conference foe come into your house & just beat your rear end like they caught you behind the bushes with their girlfriend?

…….well a surprise starter…. Lunch will be the difference! Is he eligible to play if he is healthy ….it has been a while and he had all last Spring….Coach stated that #1 would be between Lunch and Beale going into Spring Training!

Lunch redshirted last year. You still have 5 years to play 4. This is the last season of the extra covid year from 2020. If he does or does not play in the bowl, it will have no impact on eligibility. I don't expect him to play however due to surgery he had at beginning of season. That being said, I fully expect Ben Woolridge to start the bowl game. Kevin Foote just said the same on his radio show.

If so, how can you not realize we had our 3rd string QB (Daniel Beale) in the game who is a true freshman.

Last year (December 2023), Beale was still playing high school football. Going into the game against Marshall, his college career consisted of two passes attempts with one completion for three yards.

Going into this game, the Cajuns were averaging 35.6 points per game. We only scored three points this game. I'm sure you don't understand why we only scored three points this game, so maybe you should start another thread asking that question.

Uhh, maybe because we had to play our true freshman 3rd string QB against a team that would have been a tough out even with our starter, or backup? It was 7-3 with us driving when Chandler was hurt. Chandler stays in, our offense is better, taking pressure off of our defense.

Why so many want to insult these kids effort is beyond me.

Gotta look at the defense here. Last I saw these QB's weren't out there playing defense. Gave up 31 at your own house on a big stage begs the question. It is what it is.

Cause and effect situation IMO. Our offense was very ineffective once Fields went down. I believe we would have kept it close at a minimum had he not been injured. Once he went out our defense stayed on the field far too long. I thought the D played hard; but just got worn down. My 2 cents …..
