    This is well said.

While the staff walks too many, they are in the 58th percentile of D1 baseball in walks per 9 innings. A whole lot of college baseball pitchers walk too many guys.

But as referred to, this staff had really good stuff, holding batters to the 7th best hits allowed per 9 innings in the country and ranked 23rd nationally in WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched). They also were 23rd nationally in strikeouts per nine innings. And 23rd in ERA.

It’s definitely frustrating to watch our guys walk opposing batters, but outside of the best of the best in the country, ALL college staffs do it. And I understand most fans watch just Cajuns games and aren’t aware of it, so I just wanted to point this out.

We walked less than the average teams did, gave up less hits than just about anybody else did, struck out more than most and were in the 92nd percentile in giving up runs.

This was a REALLY good college baseball staff. And it’s not hard to conceive that it may be even better next season.

You’re right. Most do. My comment was for the “we suck”, “the season is over”, “this isn’t a regional team”, “we beat up on a weak schedule” group. And there are more than a few of them.

We went 2-2 this regional. That’s fantastic. And beat Texas.

Beating Texas this year is not saying much, especially given the circumstance. The Yankees might have had a hard time bouncing back from such an emotional loss. The win yesterday afternoon wasn't difficult to predict.

Why is it so difficult to give these guys some credit and not come up with some reason why any of their accomplishments weren’t impressive?

It’s such a weird mentality as a fan.

I'm just keeping it real. We were the 2 and they were the 3. Why was it such a great accomplishment going 1-1 with them? Is it the name on the shirt?

Keeping it real, but not in context. Because of their tradition and that team played in Omaha last year. So, while the 36-win season suggest they weren't as good, they are still better than most of the teams we played this season and play in a better conference.

So, you're saying our seed and record was a sham?

We were the 2 in the #3 regional so a low 2 and they were a high 3. Very close.

We split the games. They beat us by 7 when we were throwing freshmen outfielders in the 5th inning. We beat them by 8 when they were fighting for their lives.

You can crap on it all you want. It was a great win against a powerhouse program…and on national TV. And we won it in style. It was good for the program.

Sorry if it wasn’t good enough for you. But it seems nothing short of national title in an undefeated season, and never being behind in a game all year…against the toughest schedule in the country…would be.

And that’s your right. I was just asking why it’s so hard to just enjoy winning.

    Fair enough. Geaux Cajuns
