They play swamp pop, cajun zydeco, the blues, blue grass, country & even hip hop late on the weekends. I read a thread Helmut posted about old school radio dying on the vine & he may be right. But KBON with it's commitment to playing local talent & diversity of music is kicking butt & will still be here when every other FM station in this area is long gone.
We just went on a Cub Scout outing yesterday to tour KBON. Showed us around and let the kids introduce themselves live on air. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend checking the place out. The people that run the station have so many stories to share. There’s one area that has autographs all over the walls from musicians only and another area where they started having the cooks sign the walls in the back where they cook and feed people. The owners grandfather is the late Alfred Lamson (UL softball) - picture of him carrying the Olympic torch for 1996 games with a replica torch on display. Lots of neat items to see. Very friendly and down to earth people - said to tell our friends to go visit them. They’d love to share their experiences.

I’ve been listening to a lot of WVRadio lately…2 that I keep going back to.

    Nolan Taylor - “68”
Great voice but an even better storyteller.

I've heard about his side project years ago but never took the time to listen. This will be a priority today.

So where do yall stand on jam bands? I’ve tried with the Dead a bunch of times, and it just hasn’t ever clicked fully. I do like some of their studio albums. Found this cover of Bloodbuzz Ohio by Goose that I thought was pretty cool. May check these guys out more.

I love a good jam band. To me there is something there that always feels authentic. Maybe its because they tend to improvise a lot during live shows.

If you like Goose, check out Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Big Something.

Chris Cornell definitely my favorite vocalist of all time - much less the 90's.

But the 90s kicked out all sorts of cool stuff - from Screaming Trees to Porno for Pyros to The Tragically Hip (which any actual Canadian will tell you is the best rock band of all time from Canada - then proceed to apologize profusely for Nickelback)

Some albums I'm looking forward to in the next few months: MGMT - Loss of Life, Khruangbin - A LA SALA, The Black Keys - Ohio Players, and Cedric Burnside - Hill Country Love.

    What about you guys?
