No, you are worried about what other schools will think about what you call yourself. And if that sounds weird, it is. Look at all the people in here (or in the other thread) talking about not wanting to be certain mascots because other schools already have those mascots. Look at all the threads about branding as UL or Louisiana or ULL or whatever. Look at all the threads about making improvements to the facilities because other schools have those facilities.

My point is this: it's not bad to want an identity. It's not bad to want to be better. But it's bad if you're constantly comparing yourselves to others.

THE FACTS are that if it weren’t for other schools worrying about us and what we call ourselves, we would have been Louisiana since 1984 and there would be no branding confusion. And then it gets spun around as “oh they are obsessed with the name issue.” There would be no name issue if not for self esteem issues and insecurities of other cowardly state institutions.

Our stadium is a dump and needs renovation to fit the needs of what people are looking for in an experience in 2023. That has nothing to do with other schools.

Yes. People in the community are going crazy over vintage Cajun/Bulldog gear. We have finally got the public's attention and they are eating up Cajun merchandise. It's freakin' awesome. Yet, some here want to stop this train because of personal agendas.

People of Raginpagin, do not listen to the negative naysayers. Buy as much Bulldog swag as you can and wear it proudly! They will never take away who we are again!

Also, regardless of who might be at fault for the name issue--and I don't claim to know the whole history of it--I know one thing for certain: it seriously shouldn't matter. There are much more important issues than what people commonly call the school.

Sometimes your path is dictated for you, back in 1984 when the governing entity of all things in the UL System voted 17 to 1 to rename the school University of Louisiana, a select few other schools in the state said no we care about what you call yourself.

It was weird.

Then an assigned (LSU educated) judge decided that while there's no law that says you (UL System) can't change a schools name, there's no law that says you can, therefore you can't.

Triggered? No. Just quick to set you straight for calling UL fans weird or riddled with self esteem issues. Other people’s insecurities and obsessions created this situation. Not ours. Spin that narrative elsewhere to people who are ignorant enough to buy it.
