Beating a Texas, a Florida, or a Georgetown every once in awhile will get people interested. Bobby Paschal beat all 3 of these teams, and we saw how the fan base jumped on board. On the other hand, constantly flexing about winning 18-20 games when most of those teams are Sun Belt, SWAC, or Southland schools will not move the needle with people. As a matter of fact, it does the opposite. That's like football scheduling 4 non-conference FCS teams, going 4-0 in those games, and then bragging about finishing 8-4. Well, you still went 4-4 in conference in most likely would finish in the middle of the pack. People see through that kind of stuff.
Start beating the Auburn's, Florida State's, and TCU's more often. Yes, I know there are road games. But that will definitely generate more fan interest and get more people on board.
It appears we scored the 80+ before they won the national title. And it looks like it was the only time they allowed 80+ in a regular season non overtime game
This whole thread is amusing. It will get topped in four years when Marlin walks out to a retirement celebration and nobody on the radar is the new coach.
