Different Coaching styles and the need for TIME MACHINES

Lord what a thread. There’s a lot of teams winning a lot of games every year. With no facts I’ll say with certainty they don’t all show up to workout at 5am. Napier was not the best first year head coach in program history. I don’t remember anyone singing his praises after tulane ran us out of Orlando. Dez won’t do everything like billy and I hope he wouldn’t.

Billy also didn’t have to deal with portal and NIL. Now if you push a kid too hard, he’s out the door. We saw first hand last 2 of seasons there’s plenty of homes with deep pockets for them to land.

No offense to anyone’s opinion, but the fact he’s not doing exactly what billy did is nothing that concerns me.

PS I still think the athletic department didn’t want to pay for the boarding in the dorms because we were deep in the red. Dez just fell on the sword for it.

Your last paragaraph is probably so much more correct than we care to admit. Covid hit at the same time our AD was trying to grow our sports programs; unfortunately that really, really hurt when the fans didn't come back. Oh, and when we are making the largest investment in athletics in what, the last 50 years.

Yes the Brazilian and a former DE for the Cajuns and the New England Patriots. I see him often dude is a year or 2 older than me and looks like he could strap on the pads. Nothing fat old man about him.

I’ll just say this to your 2nd paragraph. No coach in America should run their program in fear of kids might enter the portal because its to tough. If you do that the inmates will run the asylum. Run your program the way you see fit to get your kids in the best physical and mental shape to play the game.

All too often, people are attacked on here for sharing their opinion, good and bad. People that think they are "in the know" feel as though they need to correct and attack other posters for sharing their thoughts on a subject. This is what has driven many posters off.

I'm not directing this at any particular poster, but a group of them.

. . . so, if he does the same thing this year in practice and camp and wins 9 games, will you admit that all this subjective foolishness you are posting about is just that . . .

I will judge this year as I did last not on wins and loses but on what I see on the field. I coached high school football for 15 years I can spot an undisciplined football team or a team that is discipline and does all the little things right without seeing a score.

I’m glad you mentioned that. We were so undisciplined that we managed to average nearly identical penalties and penalty yards per game as Napiers teams.

So I’m not 100% sure what you saw on the field to suggest we were missing discipline. Because what I saw, was 2 first year QB’s playing behind the 3rd string OL for the first 5 games. Missed assignments in blocking schemes, missed check downs by the QB early in the season all growing pains with an inexperienced team.

Defensively we were fantastic 95% of the season.
