Different Coaching styles and the need for TIME MACHINES

All true and you can add the lack of discipline in Des’ team compared to those of Napier. It was blatantly obvious. Discipline is all about doing the little things. Where do you develop discipline? The offseason and training camp. But our coach knew better than his predecessor and his predecessors mentor. It must be nice to know more than Saban on how to run training camp before you’ve coached your first college game.

I’ll be interested to see how camp will be ran this year.

You know maybe, just maybe, Des is teaching kids how to become responsible adults. Not controlling every single moment of their day.

You sure it didn’t have anything to do with Torrence, Mitchell, Hunt, Brown or Dotson? I mean I would think that those OL wearing out defenses made winning tight games easier.

Also to add, Torrence and Brown transferred out and were both all Americans at their respective levels . Them plus Waites were 2-3 OL starters lost before any of the OL injuries to others

Napier took over a locker room that Hud had completely lost control of. He had to create a completely new cULture in there. I’m sure you saw some of the videos that were that leaked out. Des took over a program with great cULture and process in place.

I do realize that losing the number of players he did contributed to the wins and loses. But losing players had nothing to do with obvious lack of discipline that team displayed often last year.

Never mind that half of the starters transferred out. Or that two other starters were injured prior to the season starting.

Not a reply to anyone in particular, and it’s been mentioned before too. The normal player losses due to graduation and transfers hurt, but so too did the attrition due to academic difficulties. So in total we lost 40+ players from Napier’s 13 win team. Add to that the growing pains with a first time FBS head coach and we were much further back than most of expected.
I look for 2023 to be a much improved team over 2022.
