How many personnel does NCAA allow for analytics staff in addition to the paid coaching positions and one volunteer?
This guy is definitely KIDSOURCED . . .
I don't believe there is a limit. Much like football, if they aren't 'on field' coaching resources, it is somewhat only a budget issue. This is my understanding from speaking with a couple of coaches.
This is where they claim that the P5 can really differentiate themselves. In addition to NIL, they can have these huge analyst staffs that aren't limited by the NCAA coaching limits.
Once again, this is what I understand, haven't researched it deeply.
Go look up Vanderbilt and what they have for their pitching resources and why so many pitchers are going there to play.
I’ll piggy back off some previous posts… Wake Forest has a pitching analytics staff (they call it the pitching lab) that consists of about 30 individuals. We will never have to resources to hire 30 assistants, but it seems we are trying to add some resources to the staff in the same capacity. I love this move.
Analytics.....ask Billy Beane, the Oakland Athletics, and the Boston Red Sox if they matter. Scouts hate it because it makes them justify how they "feel" or "project" someone.
Analytics can't make a player or team but they can squeeze every single ounce of performance out of both players and teams if utilized correctly. Baseball has always been about the numbers. Those who are best at it today have figured out how to dig much deeper than RBI, ERA, Slugging, etc....
Analytics?——-see”Moneyball”!
Not to side track. Analytics are a valuable tool and greatly improve overall performance. When it's the bottom of the 9th and you need a run (or an out), strictly going on analytics is not always ideal. For example, analytics say bunting a runner over doesn't produce runs as often. But they do put more pressure when that pitcher is looking at a runner on third. They may also say bring in the lefty for a LHvLH matchup when your RH pitcher is zoned in. I like the combination of the two that this will likely lead to. I'm already ready for next season. LFG!
