I agree, South Alabama did not get slighted, they knew the setup, THEY AGREED TO IT! What I have a problem with, why did the conference and every athletic department keep this hidden from the public and the fan bases? It would have been easy to list the standings with East and West Divisions all season long. Why are we just finding this out one week before the conference tournament?

And why would you only seed 1 and 2 by division? That is a pretty odd way to do things.

I've made this point on the belt forum after marshall fans were beating their chest about winning so many games. They didn't play the top 3 teams in the west. That's 9 games to "fix" their 40 win record. Only good west team they plated this season was tx state at Marshall and they lost the series 2-1.

How did they agree to it? Doesn't the conference make the rules? I didn't know they needed approval from the teams.

    It is voted on.

All I've ever heard about favorable or unfavorable schedules is "had no say."

I track and post the Bubas Cup standings on the CSNBBS Sun Belt website. I had to talk with some of the new staff members about how women's soccer and volleyball were going to be tabulated. I was told that they had the coaches decide if seedings, point distributions, etc. were going to be determined by overall conference record, record within the divisions, win percentage. They have apparently done the same with other sports as well.

So is this, a moving target?
Can or does it change yearly?

It's hard to say. I would expect this year establishes the precedent. I'm not sure if they will change how they determine which teams from the East will play teams from the West, but they had to figure something for this season since they were not going to play a full round robin schedule (too many conference games detracts from non-conference benefits). The Division winners will likely remain the top two seeds, I wouldn't expect that to change but I don't think I'll be able to find out about any other changes until next season.
