Procor & Gamble can move right in and name the bowl AFTER ONE OF ITS PRODUCTS, charmin toilet bowl.... AND WE'LL MARKET IT AS THE LAST bowl TO EVER BE PLAYED IN SHREVPORT. It'll be the TOILET BOWL!

  4. UL Football Honors for the Ragin' Cajuns

UL's football team got passed over for a bowl game on Sunday, but the Cajuns saw two seniors receive honors from the Sun Belt on Monday.

Quarterback Mike Desormeaux was named the league's offensive player of the week, while kicker Drew Edmiston earned special teams honors.

Desormeaux tossed a career-best four touchdowns and had 243 yards passing in last week's 42-28 win over Middle Tennessee. He also topped 1,000 yards rushing for the second consecutive season, becoming only the eighth NCAA quarterback to do so.

  5. Sunbelt DEEP-SIXED

When news hit Sunday night that UL was one of four bowl-eligible teams left out of the postseason, Cajuns head coach Rickey Bustle was obviously disappointed.

He shared his frustration and had no problem doing so.

But in his first public comments since the bowl pairings were announced, Bustle showed the same accountability on Monday that he and his fellow coaches demand every week from their players.

"We need to take care of business and not leave it in other people's hands," Bustle said. "We had opportunities to win several games."

  6. UL Football Bowl snub baffles Bustle

For most of Sunday afternoon, Rickey Bustle sat in his office waiting for a history-making phone call. UL's head football coach learned later that night that history would have to wait.

The Cajuns (6-6 overall) were not among the 68 teams invited to play in the 34 available bowl games. The snub extended the program's postseason drought to 38 years.

"I was disappointed for our football team," Bustle said in his first public comments on the issue. "I thought our football team deserved a chance to play in a bowl game."

  7. UL Football Motor City gave FAU nod for playing in Michigan

Motor City executive director Ken Hoffman said the Motor City Bowl was impressed with FAU when it traveled to East Lansing this year to play Michigan State.

“Perhaps the tie-breaker was FAU played in this area this year and got a lot of media attention when they played Michigan State,” he told The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, La.

“In addition to that attention, we also considered the offense they run and the fact they have an NFL-type quarterback in Rusty Smith. Plus, Howard Schnellenberger is a legend and will bring more to the game as well.”

Well, they may not be lying. If a cold front is passing through that day and it's raining and cold, they'll just be hiding under the tarps.

The "rankings" are totally predictable just like most everything that comes out of the national media and ESPN etc. - the bigger your name the better you are, blah, blah blah.

I don't care who you or where you are, the Troy vs. So. Miss game has the makings of a war. That's one I really want to see. Go Trojans.
