LOL, there are good points on both sides of the bases stealing argument. But let's be fair, Mel and others probably keep defending it because me, and you, and others, keep _____ing about it in game threads when it doesn't work.

I appreciate Craig's research. It adds to the perception. But it doesn't change the fact that sending Robe from 2nd to 3rd on a delayed break with 2 outs and your best hitter coming to the plate is moronic baseball. We run ourselves out of way too many scoring opportunities.

This right here. Happens more than I would like to cost us potential scoring opportunities.

I'd argue in games that it mattered, our aggressiveness has bailed our opponents out a non-insignificant number of times. Whether it be taking the bat out of our hitter's hands or simply just running up pitch counts. We've been thrown out a handful of times in the midst of a pitcher throwing 4+ consecutive balls.

And I agree per my comment above. I'm just saying here that I don't think it's quite fair to say "Why do you feel the need to defend something so often that I and many others criticize frequently? That proves my point!"

I can promise you that Deggs or the team could care less about some record. Just know that as long as Deggs is the HC of UL baseball that he will run the bases aggressively. Like it or not. His style hasn't changed since he was here the first time and it will never change. It's a fun brand of baseball when it's clicking on all cylinders though.

I don't like it at all. But I know it's what we have. So I keep my p|ssing and moaning to a minimum. My position will always be, there is a difference between aggressive and reckless. We are the latter, a lot of the time.

the current head coach manages baseball by the seat of his pants there is no master plan. he guesses and sometimes he rolls 7s. some times he comes up snake eyes. it is not just running the bases its every part of the game

I never said it's the greatest style. Just that it is what it is. I too wish it were a little more under control.
