Cajuns are halfway through the regular season, 19-9 with 28 left. It's hard to determine if they would have to "go on an absolute tear" because of the number of quality games they have remaining. The win over LSU may not be necessary if they can take the series from Coastal and Troy at home, and Southern Mississippi on the road. They have 3 what you can classify as "bad losses," South Alabama, McNeese and High Point. Unfortunately, they only have 1 quality win, Campbell. They have work to do, but they have the opportunity to show the committee something, let's hope they're good enough to pull it off.

If you recall, I said the same thing about Rice when people were saying they were terrible. They’re 73rd in the latest RPI. And the Cajuns beat them in that series as well. On the road.
There’s a pretty big difference between sharp play and sweeping a bad team and sleepwalking through the series and escaping barely with two wins.

Well sweeps are never a given, no matter who you play. And winning two of three is winning two of three.

Again, every team loses games they shouldn’t lose. At every level above little league. The Cajuns have probably lost a couple more than they should have. But they’ve also won 19 of the 28 they’ve played. And 6 of 9 in the conference.

I would guess that any realistic fan would have taken 19-9 and 6-3 at this point if given the option before the year began.

Tonight is a perfect example of why I can never wrap my head around the "a win is a win" mindset.
