HOUSTON -- FOX 26 Sports has learned Western Michigan has accepted an invitation to play Rice in the Texas Bowl on Dec. 30 at Reliant Stadium.

Rice is playing in its second bowl game in three years. When Rice played in the New Orleans Bowl two years ago it was their first bowl game in 45 years.

The Owls are 9-3 this season, their most regular season wins since 1953.
