Maggard has made good hires. Based on that track record and the fact that the next football coach was Maggard's biggest hiring decision to date, Mike was well vetted and should work out, right? I hope he does.

Players and maybe coaches will come and go, but I like to think that the situation cannot be any worse than this time last year. Year to year changeover is the new normal. Let's see if M.D. can keep the ship heading in the right direction with the knowledge that crew will be jumping on and off.

For some, CMD tenure at Louisiana wasn’t enough to get him hired as HC and for the same it should count on his tenure to fire him as head coach . . . Go figure . . .

I don't like it, but dealing with the transfer Portal is the new normal within the NCAA. Every school is having to deal with the same things UL is dealing with. We will win some and lose some when it comes to the Portal.

Hopefully the coaches are dealing with and understanding the portal beter than us fans are.

……with these guys leaving, I am curious about their past performances…..did they block well? Did they have many drops? Did they screw up assignments? Most improved position on team was LL2 at wr…..I know “The penalty”

Again, I don't know, but I assume that football (like other sports) conducts post season exit interviews with all the players at the end of the season. I also have to assume that some of those entering the portal are doing so based on conversations with the coaches during thos interviews. Maybe some were encouragd to enter the portal or at least have the support of the coaching staff to do so. I'm sure that the coaches already know (based on past performance and practice time) that not all 100+ members of the team will be significant contributers next year or into the future.

Post season interviews are conducted. Also, my understanding is that scholarships are renewed annually..

When someone leaves through the portal, I would assume the university gets that scholarship back.

When someone is signed via the portal. Does it go against that years signing or will it go against the total scholarship number.

The only transfer portal exit of significance at this point has been Fleming.

100% agree, and so far, none of our impact, young defensive players are leaving and we have added Fite.
