In particular, La Tech Assistant Bruce Van De Velde is the number one operative that has been pouring the gas on the fire. You might remember Van De Velde as the former AD at Iowa State that "resigned" after the President decided not to renew his contract. This was soon after he was booed off the court by students and fans during a halftime ceremony at an ISU basketball game

Don't know if Van De Velde is doing this on his own initiative, or, since he is the lap dog of AD/Coach/Head Cheerleader Derek Dooley, simply following orders. But it has become very clear that La Tech seems to be frightened of a head-to-head with a SBC school in football.

Remember, LaTech is "superior" to SBC schools. Don't believe it? Just ask Dooley and his posse of kool-aid drinking 'Necks. If it looks like dog ****, smells like dog **** and tastes like dog **** . . . then it must be dog ****.

This was not a media report, this was from the bowl selection committee chairman. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Of course, if Waters plays hard-ball, will he be able to renew any of these contracts? I doubt it.

_ I seriously like his new information from gatadotcom. If Troy beats ASU, I think Troy is getting screwed to be forced into the NO Bowl, but that is the "risk" (chuckle) we all take being in the SBC. If they were 12-0, this deal would still require them to represent the SBC in the NO Bowl.

I believe that once we beat MT, and get into one of these other bowls... we work out a swap with Troy (snicker). We split the revenue between the two, they go to the more "prestigious" bowl... and we all head down to New Orleans for the UL party. _

When did requiring someone to live up to an agreement they signed with you become "playing hardball"? It's the Independence Bowl's fault for signing such a no-win agreement in the first place.

Let me ask you a question: if your employer shorts your paycheck, and you demand to be paid what was your agreed-upon salary, should they say you're "playing hardball"?

Have you read the contract? The I-Bowl board has and they don't read it like Wright does. Same thing for the other bowl spokesman that was quoted.

It doesn't matter to me, but it is a FACT that Wright is trying to force these bowls against their will. Obviously the contract isn't exactly clear on the issue. What will WW get for his efforts? I think you know.

The normal Tech fan has no clue who Wright Waters is...the same goes for the normal college football fan. Wright is a Tech grad who is still angry that Tech left the belt.
