Can anybody tell me what benefit the Independence Bowl got out of this stupid 9from the bowl's perspective) agreement anyway?

What will he get, extra opportunities to play on national television, chances to prove that the sunbelt does in fact have fans AND they will show up for bowl games. I think not allowing us into one of our CONTRACTED bowls would shed a much harsher light on the bowls than it would on the league. These bowls knew exactly what they were signing when they signed them, if they had no intentions of honoring their agreements, then they should never have signed the contracts!
Sparky and his LaTex pals are full of crap. What's funny is they absolutely HATE the Independence Bowl over a perceived snub or some such nonsense. So, why do they care who plays in it since they'll be in one of the elite WAC bowls? Strange bunch - remind me of Yosemite Sam.
It does not matter if any of us have read the contract. I assure you Wright Water has. You are implying that he is being "pushy" about the contract. First, would you respect the commissioner of a conference if he did not follow through with his interpretation of a contract that could favor his conference? Second, would you not expect him to request outside interpretation from a governing body, if there were any ambiguity? If the contract was vague enough to allow him a reasonable position, he damn well better press for favorable consideration, at the very least. The bowl committees affected are going to review these agreements either way for future considerations. Wright is absolutely spot on to challenge.
Dooley (and his surrogates) are making some serious mistakes in judgement. He is going to end up doing harm to Tech in the long run. Tech is not a protected species like others in this state. His attorney mind is going to get his non-Louisiana butt in trouble.
I don't fault him for the "fight". I do question the wisdom. Reputations are easily made and tough to get rid of.
And I love how all this is Dooley's fault. There's NO way the I-Bowl just doesn't want a 6-win belt team if they aren't contractually obligated to take one. No way that's what it is. It has to be that evil Dooley and those arrogant Techsters.
Good luck with the MUTS tomorrow.
I have no idea how he is presenting his case and neither do you. Do I believe Tech is meddling in on the Indy Bowl people wrt to the SBC contractual language... I certainly do. No one is saying that the Indy Bowl might not be wiggling on the contract. That is the SBC's business to work it out with them. It is not Tech's business.
I don't care about arrogant Techsters. Dooley, however, is a tool... and he will make a reputation that Tech will not like and will not be easy to get rid of... wait and see.
Tech and the Indy have had such a great relationship int he past, I'm sure they are doing whatever Dooley asks.
I'd love to know what Dooley is doing to build a bad reputation for Tech. As it stands right now, our relationship with the local teams that we would like to be affiliated with has never been better.
As long as Reneau is in his corner, his reputation in this state will be just fine.
Why would Dooley care who Tech plays in a bowl............. He's about to be a MSU Bulldog?????
