I don't think we ever said we didn't get any players from those schools. We stated tht the coaches there tend to steer their kids elsewhere. That doesn't mean those kids don't sometimes make their own decisions (sometimes in our favor and sometimes not). The point is these guys seem to have a chip ontheir shoulder about UL. I've heard it from UL coaches and I've heard comments that these coaches have made to friends of mine with kids at their schools (well one of them). You've got your opinion and sources and I've got mine. I believe mine and you obviously believe yours.

Before I coached at UL I was sooo partial to the Cajuns in trying to get kids to go there-----I mean I played at UL and loved the place------Maybe I was wrong with such a bias to the hs kids I coached---But I loved the Cajun coaches for what they had done for me---LOYALTY!!!!

Derrick Keyes signed with NorthWestern State out of high school, Barousse had nothing to do with him coming home.

Actually Coach Mac told me he tries to steer kids to state schools, because he believes a graduate will have more career opportunities in his home state after his athletic career is over. He stated this on sportsnote before he returned to Carencro high.

Just in case you guys are not aware of the huge potential landslide into the great academic abyss recruits currently face, let me help clarify...

4 years ago you had to make decent scores on 12 core credits to gain your NCAA clearance to play DI Football...

Many players failed to do so, due to lack of effort, focus, guidance, parenting, mentoring, proper home environment, etc...

As often is the case, the NCAA in it's less than infinite wisdom decided to lift one corner of the playing field and give the turf a substantial tug...

As of 2008, 16 core credits are required, a goal that is much more challenging...

As stated by one academic coordinator for a major DI program, they went back and ran the transcripts for their current senior class and determined that 63% of them would not have been elidgible to play DI football under the current guidelines, all of which were successful in the classroom, on track to earn their degree, and scheduled to graduate last year...

I'd like to know which DI program, and what the players' majors are.

Some schools have high graduation rates from kids who can't spell their own names.

cajun t, mac barousse was on rykman's show during fenroy's freshman year. he commented on fenroy being the first cajun to rush for 1,000 yards for "sli, usl, ull, or whatever the hell they're calling themselves there these days." not much respect there that i can see.
