Recently it was stated that Big Dave was overheard to say to the UL coaches that he would help with recruits but not against lsu. Again, its the you can have the second tier locals. So instead our coaches go outside the area for a better player and the second tier local and his coaches resent us for wanted the best player out there.

Just take a look at the roster starting from 5 years ago to now. You can see certain HS programs are absent. I went to Acadiana and I can't recall (aside from Justin Venable) any players playing for UL. It's pretty clear that Breaux Bridge is an LSU hot bed. I could be way off in my thinking that this method can give insight. JMO _

I'm not too sure. A few of the guys are seniors but the big 2 are juniors this year.

And Hammer, I got that you weren't commenting on my relative. Like I said, he was recruited because he had tops and didn't need a scholarship. I do know exactly what program you are talking about from last year or a few years ago. Shame some of these kids don't realize what it takes and that they can get help

Some of you guys need to go hangout with the all-knowing Jay Walker. _
That wouldn't be any fun... we would probably get an immediate, undeniable answer to the question. It's much more fun to have a thread 80 miles long, pontificating, speculating, accusing, condemning, gossiping, ranting, postulating, denying, agreeing, disagreeing, slandering, supporting, sidestepping, segwaying, circling, rehashing... culminating with a sum total that equates to nothing.

If Jay participates too soon, it nips all of this fun in the bud.

Jay publicly stated in response to a caller's question on his show that Carencro has been one of the schools to be less than supportive or cooperative with the UL coaching staff. Next time the Barousse (sp?) brothers are on KPEL maybe the question should be put directly to them.

Championships and bowl games will squeeze out the middleman, or at least call their credibility into question. It seems to me that recruiting is slowly but steadily improving, and from the ground up. Bustle has stuck to his plan to use JUCOs sparingly, and I like the results.

I agree, but confronting any of them probably won't turn them around. I think we should allow all local HS coaches to use the excuse that our program wasn't up to snuff in the past... but now it is a different story. I would rather see the trend turn in our favor from some of these schools than to dredge up their bias and make them dig in even harder.

These other issues, like passing over local kids, is an age-old emotional subject. These coaches love their kids and want to place them. They have felt UL was "good enough" for some of these kids. When in doubt, I am going to place my money on the UL coaching staff. They have far too much to lose to pass on a talent that was superior to the people they are recruiting and signing.

If a local kid is all that and wants to play for UL, 95% of the time, when enough effort is put forth, our coaches are going to consider the kid (non academic qualifiers aside). I call BS on all of these other stories... but some people have to hang onto the story they heard from their cousin who knew the brother-in-law of the coach's neighbor's dog.

Did you know Jay is at Carencro every day and sees firsthand the devious dealings of Carencro coaches? He observes, takes notes, and spreads word of their dreadful undermining on the air waves.

FYI: Mac Barousse is never involved with the recruiting of any Carencro kid; he completely stays out of it.
and didn't Mark Barousse provide starting OLineman Kyle Pirtle and safety Derrick Keys
