We are pushing to raise 40 mil across multiple years to fund stadium upgrades....meanwhile Texas is raising that amount of money to Pay football players every single year. It ain't CDS. If all of this is allowed to continue I'll personally be done with sports in general. Already tossed the towel in on most pro sports years ago. I just don't see the point of it when the real decisions about winners and losers are more about what happens in the "board room" rather than what happens on the field.

Heck the NFL actually does a better job with these issues than where NCAA football is headed. Seriously the parity in the NFL due to salary caps etc. has actually allowed the league to be in a position where any team has the ability to build towards a championship team. I do not believe that will be true of the NCAA moving forward and it was already pretty bad.

I have no issue paying for tickets and giving money to the overall program so that facilities can be enjoyed by all, both fans AND PLAYERS.

What I will not contribute to is putting cash in the players pockets, on top of the free education they have opportunity to recieve, which you can't put a price tag on if they take it seriously.

I understand everyone’s hesitance and an individual stance.

The larger picture is, successful Cajuns Athletics has a significant impact on the Lafayette and Acadiana economies. Those businesses (franchises, chains and local) have much more incentive to get involved than the little guy like you and me. What I’m suggesting is, we need someone (our some group) to spearhead that specific effort. And we need our administration to WANT it to happen.

As soon as sports gambling was legalized and NIL came through, LSU had a Caesar's Sportsbook sponsorship. Wonder if LA politicians had their hand in that?

Funny how with the amount of attorneys in the Acadiana area, an outside firm is the first one to step up and sponsor the local university...

I read today that Texas A$M paid between $25-30 MM for their #1 class via the NIL. Contracts are set up as multi-year deals. If a player leaves, he leaves the money behind. Most of you know this already, but these bullets helped me understand the process.

How NIL works…

• A coach identifies a recruit that he wants to target.
• That coach tells a “point donor.”
• The “point donor” gathers other donors around him.
• Those donors create an LLC.
• The LLC, in turn for a commitment, sponsors the targeted recruit.
• That recruit, upon arrival on campus, receives money from the LLC.
• In turn, the recruit promotes the LLC and its “cause,” whether that be a charity or a business.
