Social by a mile. Especially if you’re a ‘farm to table’ type. And if you like ‘hair of the dog‘ on Sunday mornings. I’ve never had anything there I didn’t like. Best salads in Lafayette.

I’m genuinely surprised by the Bon Temps love. I didn’t mean to knock them, just seemed perfect that a tourist would pick them as the best in town. They have OK food. My experience has always been, meh, OK.

This Bon Temps discussion is starting to mirror the La Pagua zealotry. Never understood it.

That’s one, of those listed here I’ve been to, I would classify as overrated.

Jay said it right, though, OP could opt not to get in a vehicle to eat well during his stay. However, if hopping in one to head out, I’d put T-Coons, Bon Temps, Riverside Inn and Poseidon’s down as good options.

Social does have a good atmosphere, but I’m not crazy about the entrees. And I might get blasted for bringing this one up, but Don’s Seafood Hut on Johnston does have a nice bar atmosphere, well made adult beverages by friendly bar tenders, and I’ve honestly never had a bad meal there.

Definitely gotta get the stuffed grilled cheese sandwich at Johnson’s Boucaniere, and that can be achieved via walking. I like mine with their boudin and BBQ sauce.

The smoked fried chicken with a sweet potato biscuit from Social is one of the best dishes in town. Add a side of mac and cheese and it's a religious experience.

amen to that. Social is a really nice place both to have a few drinks and have a great meal.

Aside from Prejean's, what are some places I can bring some out-of-towners to experience traditional Cajun food?

Where will you be primarily? Uptown / Downtown / Southside / Saints Streets / Upper Lafayette / West End

This is a big part of why Dat Dog is leaving.

No where specific really. Just whatever captures the authenticity best.

I agree with MAT, this is not accurate. Not to say that I don't like the food but there are a number of places where the food is better. Bon Temps has a lot of seafood options and their seafood is not as good as Don's on Johnston in my opinion.
