Thread: Kristian Lafayette

I hate when the "not a D1 player" tag gets thrown around. There are 350 D1 teams and over 4,500 D1 scholarships. Lafayette is 6'11" and shot 58% from beyond the arc in the little bit of time we got to see him on the court here. He obviously had his shortcomings as well which are mentioned here but with that height and shooting touch I'm sure there are other D-1 schools interested. I'm not sure what he wants out of his next school as far as academics, proximity to home, or on court situations, but it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

    In other news,

Michael Ertel of ULM has entered the transfer portal as a grad transfer. Jalen Hodge and Elijah Ifejeh, also of ULM, have entered as well.

All Conference swingman Quan Jackson of Ga. Southern has entered the portal. PG Calvin Wishart, also of GS, announced today he is transferring to UCSB.

And even with all of that being understood, he didn’t belong on a D1 roster. He was a roster filler, and everyone knew it at the time when we had 2 committed players not end up here.

For a coach known to develop players over a period of time, he sure didn’t do sheit with Lafayette. Even though he wasn’t a D1 player he could have been pretty good at eating up minutes, giving fouls and making the outside shot. You saw flashes in the last few games but it was too little too late.

Just curious can you refresh my memory on who the 2 commits were, trying to think back but I can’t remember this.

Pretty sure it was the cycle that we were courting the All American.

Yes it was but at no point was he ever committed and I think the scholarship that would have been his went to Jeremy Hayes.

I’d like to add my appreciation to Lafayette for coming to Louisiana. I hope his basketball future is brighter, he was always a team player.

    Thank you young man
