Academic reputation and prestige. Not making a call as to the quality of education at eigther school, simply public perception.

Strictly $$$$'s and cents, that scholarship is over $70,000 a year, ours is about $20,000.

Don't understand the question. Tuition, books, living expenses are about $70,000/year, so that is what a full scholarship is worth in dollars.

The? is simply do you think someone is actually spending $70K on these scholarships$

I’d submit NO! No actual dollars are subsidizing the cost other than perhaps food from anybody to Tulane University of Louisiana. The supposed value is a mirage. Yes I’d pay that but not athletes.

If you are on full scholarship, you pay very little, if anything. The school bills the athletic department for costs. This is what is done at every college or university for athletic scholarships. Even if it just a paper transaction (and I am not a CPS so I don't know the finer points), it is still a $7000/year benefit to the athlete on scholarship.

Whether we think a Tulane education is worth $70,000/year is another point. The fact is that is what is charged and what people are paying.

It costs nothing to add the athlete to the classroom.

I have not seen or heard of any paying student getting bumped for a scholarship athlete.

You never hear of a check being cut to any school for 400 athlete tuitions.

I guess it's just a paper transaction since the school is funding the athletic department, anyhow. But, again, I ain't no CPA, so I don't know the particulars.
