And Tatford was a badass. Just like Butler and Girouard and Leonards...the list goes on.

But the point was, and if you want to take the time and do it, go right ahead, that if you made a list of the tough as hell ball players that have played here under Robe that came from publics, it would be a whole lot longer than the private list.

It was an observation of how the program has dwindled over the last few years...and it just so happens that we've gone from a bunch of public school guys with a few private school guys mixed in to the exact opposite over the same period of time. Once again for those in the back...an observation.
Can't see from back here, but all looks like logical observations.

The poster that interjected Obumer in the mix lacks any ability to observe, that dude was a basketball guy.

Public, private, Dominican, American, city, country - separate them as you may, but what this team lacks (in addition to possibly talent) is the couple of alpha males that tend to lead and help the team get the most out of every player on the field at a given time and moment. Alpha males that play this role tend to help cover up instances where there is lack of talent with throw down. I believe we may be somewhat short on both at this time.

But but but Robe and Babs said that Monica was the true alpha male on this roster

The "toughness" I'm talking about is playing the game with fire and emotion. And being willing to do anything and everything in your power to not lose. Some of the guys that come to mind had really good statistics, so let me name some that were good players without gaudy numbers that come to mind.

Ryan Gill was a tough AF ball player. Remember him? I loved the way that kid played the game. More recently, Evan Powell and Joe Robbins and Kennon Fontenot were tough, hard nosed players. Hunter Kasuls is tough. I'll add that I think Daniel Lahare is tough and plays the game the right way. I see a lot of it in Orynn Veillon too, and Lahare and Veillon are private school guys.

Short on physical skills, throwdown and throat-chokers. Hard to disagree.

You can definitely tell by some of the comments who went to or has kids at private schools.

The OP simply pointed out an observation regarding the success of current and past rosters and it appears some people are taking it as a personal attack and need to defend private schools.

It may be all coincidence, but it is still a fact that those teams he mentioned had better records and post season runs.

I’d like to see a helmet or glove thrown in the dugout to show a sign of life. Just once

More than just an observation... he came to the conclusion that public school kids are tougher and when questioned, it went to soft and daddy's money, etc. No one defending private is saying they are better. Just pointing out some inaccuracies in assumptions.

It's tough to play with fire when down all the time. Last night, when Breaux hit the RBI single, he got fired up. But like I said, there is hard to find too much to get excited for when down 9-1.

This. 100%. It's frowned upon most of the time, but it would be nice. Or maybe Robe should come out and just get absolutely unglued by a bad call. Might be a spark. I mentioned to people around me last night that what this team needs is a good brawl.
