I agree with this. At the end of the day, we need to get back to recruiting the right kids that fit the culture that Robe made famous here. Whether public or private, we need to get back to our roots of finding the guys who play with fire and emotion. I love Robe and I hope he is here for the long haul, but I think he needs to look at the types of players our roster is currently filled with, and compare it to successful teams of years past. My guess is they won’t have many similarities.

The Dominicans will play minor league baseball for $8,000 per year until they get cut, or make the Show. American college players generally won't do that. I know one who left pro ball after two years for an engineering job. He couldn't justify the financials of more pro ball.

The person that figures how to measure heart will own the college baseball recruiting industrial complex.

How long has Blake Trahan been in minors? Longer than 2 years right? Also, from the private school system, Taylor Dugas was drafted early and he played until he was cut. Andrew Stevenson stuck with it.

What I'm getting from all of this is we should only recruit public school kids from the Dominican Republic.

Can't use Dominicans in this comparison. It was a political comment, but holds true here as well. The poorest people in the US are still the richest people in the world.

If that’s what you are getting then you are being defensive and really a trigger sensitive private school alum.

That’s where relationships come in with the kids coaches, deggs figured it out. Is that what our recruiter is looking for is the question? And does he know what it looks like?

Serious question, how much of the 2014 roster did Deggs actually recruit? Seems that it was more of just getting the most out of what he had to work with. A lot of contributors were juniors and seniors in 2014... he came mid 2012 season if I remember correctly.

So which bucket does the OP put the following players in? Asking for a friend.

    Justin Robicheaux
    Austin Robicheaux
    Jefferies Tatford
    Hunter Moody
    Danny Farquhar

I agree. But by the same token you can visibly see the lack of heart this team has in comparison to virtually any team in school history. The teams of the last couple years are nothing like any teams we have had in the last 15 years. Robe has always prided himself in recruiting a certain type of player, more importantly, NOT recruiting a certain type of player. All we have on this roster outside of Gunner is a bunch of guys Who would fall in the category of being the type of player Robe wouldn’t want. The players on this roster fit in the category of every “Robeism” we have ever heard. Our recruiting has gotten away from us the last couple of years, and historically I would argue that robe has done a great job of measuring heart in the recruiting process.

You got a point, there. Coach Szecf too. Szefc might be the hottest turn around coach in the country.

I just don't get the point he's trying to make. I thought I did. First it was public school kids tend to be tougher than private school kids. But now it's Dominicans are the toughest of them all.

Just think we should go after the players with a little bit of an attitude. If you follow any of the guys on social media, everything is me me me. They will repost an article about themselves in a heartbeat. Find team guys and it won't matter if they are white, black, red, blue, public, private, American, Dominican, or anything else.
