You can't build/maintain a top notch program worrying about what could happen if you miss on your next hire.
And for the record, I've tried to tone it down a bit. I am still going to ask questions and rebut things that I don't agree with. I want Tony to be successful. Just think we should be looking to the future sooner rather than later if things don't improve drastically this season.
I'm okay with asking questions and demanding performance. There are no guarantees that the moves made with the staff will mean a better season. At that point I think serious questions will have to be answered. But I'm not ready to go there yet in Well's first season as hitting coach.
We returned 7 players who put in meaningful time from last year, as frustrating as it is to watch, a slow start isn’t very surprising. As bad as we have played we are inches from being ranked and could have 1 win.
As frustrating as it is yes, at least he owned it in his Diamond Club luncheon. Had he hung JT and Babb out to dry than no I don't think Well's would buy him more time with many fans for another poor season. But that doesn't mean he would be headed out the door at that point either. Just like Marlin, he's going nowhere anytime soon. Unlike Marlin, he finally made changes and owned it. Sorry, but that carry's some weight for me. See you out there tonight.
