If Wells exclusively coaches the batters, then I will say that it will take some time to learn the new approach. But if JT is still influencing the batters, then we are back to where we were before Wells arrived.
The fact that you are referring to them as "batters" instead of "hitters" should answer your question.

Are the top 6 teams in sunbelt softball all above average teams?

In regards to the sunbelt I believe if a team finishes in the top 3 consistently would be an above average softball team. But this because we only recently added greater than 9 teams to the league.

Excuse me, but does the Olympics give copper medals? Anything under third in a field of twelve is absolutely no better than average. In school ya get four shots at passing. The C is average. 4th is actually pretty lame in this conference.

Using those standards only softball is an above average sunbelt team with a 1.1st place average finish. Followed by basketball at 3.8th place then baseball at 4th place average and football at 4.1th placed average.

    * These are strictly conference based numbers and not overall records.

You're kind of making the point here. Softball is above average. Keep doing what we are doing. Basketball coach not cutting it. Baseball coach not cutting it. Football got a new coach last year, not responsible for years before but should be held to the same standard over time.

However the mere presence of the former batting coach watching you could have an affect.

Freshmen should not be affected at all though.
Just to clarify my post, I could see a couple of players potentially feeling it.

    But not a whole lineup.

I agree for the most part although I still feel strongly that we CAN build a program of excellence but we need to set ourselves up for such.

Over the past 7 years, the MBB team has an average conference finish of 4.3 and that is with last year's first place finish.

We can; but not with the current staff. They recruit, schedule and coach for mediocrity. That won't change until the basketball staff is replaced and the administration demands a committment to excellence.

I've thought about your Q some more.

It seems plainfully obvious that the batters are somewhat unwilling to turn themselves into hitters and have to visit with JT at first base.
